Jerry Schumacher, professional photographer, captured the aura of Carteret County during the the 1950’s. He published photographs in the News-Times as well as being the proprietor of the Jerry Schumacher Studio on the waterfront in Morehead City.

He was born in 1908. He moved away from Morehead City becoming Vice President for John H. Hudson, Jr. and Associates, the sales arm of Hudson Studios, Inc. of Greenville, SC. He passed away in 1965 while staying in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

The Jerry Schumacher Photograph Collection was donated to the Carteret County Historical Society in 1991 and consists of both black and white prints and negatives. The cataloging of the collection started with images of the Port of Morehead City and the Morehead City waterfront.
