The Niña and the Pinta are coming to Morehead City. They are both examples of Portuguese ship design used by Columbus and many early explorers to discover the world. On tour they will surround you with the design and materials of the historic caravel design. Being floating museums, there are also exhibits on each ship highlighting the history of the Age of Discovery, navigation of the era, how the ships were built and a taste of what life was like over 500 years ago.

for the three ships Columbus used in is voyages to the New World. Two caravels and a nao. The Niña and the Pinta are both caravel designs, quick and nimble with a shallow draft. The Santa Maria is a nao design that can carry considerably more cargo with double the draft. Columbus made 4 voyages totaling 12 years on ships like these. They display and maintain the only traveling caravel replicas in existence today.
